New York Station: An Oil Painting Art Exhibition

NEW YORK STATION  is a contemporary visual art exhibition with a presentation of today’s epidemic of loneliness as it relates to the modern urban environment.

The exhibition features the works by Chinese-born artist Chenyi Sun, curated by Dandi Gu. Sun utilizes several oil painting techniques to bring forth typical New York Metro landscape and visualize the loneliness regarding living in a high-stress metropolis. In Sun’s work, the subway seems like a microcosm of New York replete with the diverse living style and people interaction shows a shared urban identity and reflects social concerns with poetic expression.

About the Artist

Chenyi Sun (b.1991, Shanghai, China) received an M.F.A. in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in the spring of 2018, Savannah, GA, US. Sun earned a B.F.A. in painting from Fudan University Shanghai Institute of Visual Art in the spring of 2015, Shanghai, China. His work has been exhibited shows in New York, Miami, Palm Spring, Savannah, Lake City, as well as internationally in Shanghai, Suzhou. He currently lives and works in Savannah, GA.
